PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite yarn solving the trouble in a weaving and knitting process accompanying the single fiber breakage of filament which is an unsolved problem in the production of a fiber structure containing a basalt filament as an essential component, and provide a method for producing the composite yarn and a high-quality fiber structure using the composite yarn. SOLUTION: The composite yarn has a sheath-core structure obtained by covering a core component with a sheath component, wherein the core component is a filament containing basalt fiber and the sheath component is composed of a water-soluble filament. Further, a fiber structure obtained by weaving or knitting the composite yarn and removing the water-soluble filament by dissolution and washing, and a method for producing the fiber structure are provided.
