PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical and small-sized rechargeable battery pack system, having ensured the safety of cells at charging. SOLUTION: The rechargeable battery pack system includes a battery pack 2 where multiple cells 1 are connected; cell chargers 3 that are respectively connected to a cell 1 in the battery pack 2 and charge the respective connected cells 1; a circuit opening switch (opening switch 8), disposed in series with the charge/discharge wiring of the battery pack 1; and a battery pack monitoring and control unit 6. The battery pack monitoring and control unit acquires values, obtained by measuring the voltage of the battery pack 2, the voltage of each cell 1, the temperature of each cell 1, and the charge/discharge current of each cell 1 or the charge/discharge current of the battery pack 2.
