PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid discharge device which can effectively perform the cleaning of a blade and can endure against a long-term use. SOLUTION: The liquid discharge device comprises a cleaning mechanism 100 having a liquid discharge head 3 having a liquid discharge surface 27 in which a liquid discharge nozzle 26 for discharging a liquid is arranged, a wipe member 34 slidably contacted with the liquid discharge surface 27 to wipe the liquid discharge surface 27, a moving member 5 arranged with the wipe member 34 and moving the wipe member 34 over between the opposing position of a liquid discharge head 3 and the evacuating position from the liquid discharge head 3, a cleaning roller 103 for cleaning the wipe member 34 by slidably moving the wipe member 34 moved to the position evacuated from the liquid discharge head 3, and a rotating mechanism 104 for transferring the cleaning roller 103 in response to the moving operation of the wipe member 34 by the moving member 5.
