PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head and a printer capable of normally printing characters, figures or the like without disturbing the wave form of a control signal fed to an IC for driving the thermal head even when a high-speed printing is performed. SOLUTION: The thermal head is equipped with a connector 23 receiving the control signal from a control circuit of the printer, and the IC 7a-7z for driving the thermal head for controlling heating of a plurality of heating resistors 7a1-7an to 7z1-7zn from the control signal received by the connector 23, and is equipped with a buffer IC 11a which outputs the control signal received by the connector 31 to the IC 7a for driving the thermal head and becomes a buffer instrument between the control circuit and the IC 7a for driving the thermal head.
