PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify a position of a predetermined member without controlling hitting a flag member against a stopper etc. SOLUTION: The flag member 42 with a large arc flag part 44 and a plurality of small arc flag parts 45 are driven by a driving motor which switches the predetermined member 16 in the printer 1 between two predetermined control positions or among three predetermined control positions. A sensor 48 detects arrangement sections of a plurality of the small arc flag parts 45 when the predetermined member 16 is switched between the two predetermined control positions or it sits at the predetermined control position in the center. A controlling means 62 judges on the basis of a length of the judgment time measured by a timer 57 until a detection level of the sensor 48 changes after starting driving whether or not the sensor 48 detects the arrangement sections of a plurality of the small arc flag parts 45. The control means 62 further judges the position of the predetermined member 16 or the flag member 42 on the basis of both the judgment result and the detection level of the sensor 48.
