PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which prevents rainbow irregularities from appearing in a printing medium. SOLUTION: The printer which carries out printing by scanning a carriage equipped with a print head in a main scanning direction includes a carriage motor 4 which drives the carriage, a controlling means 37 which controls driving of the carriage motor 4, a storing means 41 which stores by a plurality of patterns at least one of speed data of a scanning speed after starting scanning of the carriage and a driving speed of the carriage motor 4 corresponding to the scanning speed, and a driving mode switching means 39 which switches the pattern of the speed data. The controlling means 37 controls driving of the carriage motor 4 to scan the carriage on the basis of the speed data switched by the driving mode switching means 39. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
