Disclosed is a polytetrafluoroethylene porous body which is produced by shaping a polytetrafluoroethylene mixture containing a polytetrafluoroethylene powder and a pore-forming agent into a certain shape, and then removing the pore-forming agent therefrom. This polytetrafluoroethylene porous body is characterized in that the pore-forming agent contains (a) one or more powders selected from the group consisting of dicarboxylic acid powders and benzoic acid powders, and (b) an organic solvent.
