The container (10) has an upward open container part (12) made of metal sheet, and an inward projecting entrance is provided at an edge of the container part. A plastic ring (18) is twist-resistantly fastened to the projecting entrance, and a plastic cover (16) is screwed to an external thread of the plastic ring. The projecting entrance is formed underneath a top edge of the container part, and is connected with the top edge by a seam. An independent claim is also included for a method for closing a container.
