The locomotive has an internal-combustion engine (MOT) driving an electrical generator (GEN) in a driving operation of the locomotive. The generator generates power for a power converter (SR). The power converter converts power and supplies a drive motor. A cooling unit is provided for cooling a cooling medium and an internal-combustion engine during driving of the locomotive. Another cooling unit cools another cooling medium and the power converter during driving of the locomotive, where the cooling units are a part of a common cooler. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a locomotive with an internal-combustion engine.
