<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal optical element with which occurrence of an astigmatism is suppressed as much as possible, and respective aberrations of fluxes of light emitted from a plurality of light sources are corrected even when temperature fluctuation of outer surroundings happens, and an optical pickup equipped with the same. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal optical element, a liquid crystal is arranged in a region inside an outer peripheral seal arranged between two transparent substrates, a first region equipped with a first electrode pattern for correcting aberration of a first flux of light emitted from a first light source, and a second region equipped with a second electrode pattern for correcting aberration of a second flux of light of which the wavelength is longer than that of the first flux of light, emitted from a second light source, are arranged so as to be adjacent to each other, and a partition seal is arranged between the first region and the second region. A shape of the region inside the outer peripheral seal is made to be nearly rectangular, and a shape of at least one out of the first and second regions is made to be nearly square. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
