<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein blank sheets of an original cannot be detected efficiently and highly precisely, depending on the utilization environment. <P>SOLUTION: Thresholds corresponding to respective line density levels are stored in a RAM 9, in advance; the line density level set in reading an original is discriminated by a line density level discriminating section 14; and the blank sheet detection is performed, switching to the threshold corresponding to the line density level by a threshold selecting section 15 and a setting section 16. The thresholds, corresponding to the line density levels and stored in the RAM 9, are changed by a change instruction by a user or automatically changed, based on the number of black pixels read from an original having a large number of white parts which the user would have liked them to be regular originals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
