PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner which reduces the load on a drive motor by making the flow of outside air sucked into a filter chamber help rotate a pleat filter in stead of resisting the rotation of the pleat filter during the removal of dust with the pleat filter. SOLUTION: When the opening position of a cleaning air guide air path (outside air guide inlet 84F) to the filter chamber 81c is represented by P and the opening position of a fine dust return air path 2511 to the filter chamber 81c by Q, the distance between the opening positions P and Q in the circumference of the filter chamber 81c is set shorter in the distance L1 in the direction of rotation of the pleat filter 104 during the removal of dust than the distance L2 in the direction reverse to it.
