STERNUM CLOSURE DEVICE

Disclosed is a sternum closure device for securing two sternum parts that are to be interconnected. Said sternum closure device comprises an internal contact element that is to rest against the internal surface of the sternum, at least one clamping element which is secured to the internal contact element and transversally projects therefrom, and an external contact element that is to rest against the external surface of the sternum and can be braced against the internal contact element by means of the clamping element which extends through the intermediate space between the sternum parts. In order to make it less likely for the sternum closure device to be in the way when the sternum parts have to be separated again, at least some of the internal contact element is made of a biocompatible plastic.
