The circuit (1) has a precooling circuit (3) and a main cooling circuit (4), where the main cooling circuit is switched on after predetermined heating of a coolant in the precooling circuit and is switched to the main cooling circuit. The main cooling circuit has a main cooler which is provided with a coolant distribution box (18) and coolant collecting box (21). The precooling circuit runs over the coolant distribution box, which is attached to the main cooling circuit, where the distribution box experiences pre-heating. An independent claim is also included for a method for the cooling of an internal-combustion engine, in particular a motor vehicle.
