The device has drive equipment for applying load on a tooth-brush (12). A detecting and evaluating device (31) detects the applied load, the load cycle and temporal process of loading. A head retainer (20) fixes the tooth-brush within an area of a brush head (14), and a tensioning device (22) subjects a filament (18) composed in the brush head to alternating bending strength. The tensioning device is formed by a slide that is movable in a longitudinal guide.
