The stirrup has a suspension system arranged between a stirrup strap rod and a stepping plate. A spring is connected between a stop and a housing support in the area of the free end of the rod. The housing is conically tapered (6), and the rod (4) is coaxially introduced into the housing and whose outer contour is along with the housing (1). A storage area is provided for the conical shaped compression spring (7) whilst in a compressed condition, and that the conical tapered area is adjacent to the spring support (8) and to the rod with a protective block (12) provided for the spring.
