An alphabet input device in a keypad and a method thereof are provided to input various functions by the combination of a control button and a button corresponding to a vowel such as a multi dimensional control processing method. In a keypad having a plurality of buttons, Roman alphabets are allocated on the buttons partially or entirely, and the Roman alphabet arranged in the predetermined order is recognized according to a repeat selection mode corresponding to the number of times of repeated push operations of the button. If a specified button is pushed once, the firstly allocated alphabet is recognized according to the repeat selection mode. If the same button in the Roman alphabet is pushed more than twice continuously, alphabet combinations capable of being recognized by the repeat selection mode are recognized. A target alphabet is recognized by the alphabet combination possible in the Pinyin, except for the alphabet combinations impossible in the Pinyin.
