An oxygen concentration of a pressure swing adsorption type which prevent s the excessive adsorption of oxygen molecules accompanying the excessive su pply of raw-material air and prevents the decrease in product oxygen concent ration accompanying argon enrichment, the excessive adsorption and the decre ase occurring when the oxygen supply rate is set at a value in a low-rate ra nge. It reduces power consumption and realizes the stable operation of a com pressor. The concentrator comprises: at least one adsorption bed packed with an adsorbent capable of more selectively adsorbing nitrogen than oxygen; an air supply means for supplying pressurized air to the adsorption bed; a cha nnel switching means for repeating at a given timing an adsorption step in w hich the air sent from the air supply means is supplied to the adsorption be d to take out concentrated oxygen and a desorption step in which the adsorpt ion bed is evacuated to regenerate the adsorbent; and a flow rate setting me ans in which the rate at which the concentrated oxygen is supplied to a user is set. The oxygen concentrator is characterized in that the channel betwee n the air supply means and the adsorption bed is equipped with a discharge p iping having a discharge valve for discharging part of the pressurized air t o be supplied to the adsorption bed into the air.
