PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying device and a conveying method enabling shortening of a cycle time relating to inversion of a work and suppression of erroneous action. SOLUTION: The conveying device has an inversion means 130 for reversing the work 10 fed by a conveyor 112. The inversion means has work retaining means 140, 141 for retaining the work; a reciprocation mechanism for separating and recovering the work relative to the conveyor; a rotation mechanism for rotating the work; and a link mechanism for mechanically interlocking the reciprocation mechanism with the rotation mechanism.
