PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toner by which a deformed state of a toner granulated in an aqueous medium is suitable and a sharp particle size distribution is obtained to make a classification step unnecessary. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a toner includes at least emulsifying/dispersing an oil phase containing a binder resin and/or a binder resin precursor in an aqueous medium to granulate a toner, wherein the differenceΔDv between a minimum volume average particle diameter Dv1 of the toner during granulation during the emulsifying/dispersing and a volume average particle diameter Dv2 of the granulated toner after the emulsifying/dispersing is 0.5-3.0μm, and the granulated toner has an average circularity of 0.925-0.970 and a volume average particle diameter (Dv) to number average particle diameter (Dn) ratio, Dv/Dn of 1.00-1.30.
