PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester fiber being resistant to cyclic loading, excelling in surface softness and uniformity properties, having easy dyeability in combination and being free from unevenness or curling, especially a woven knit fabric suitable as a car sheet. SOLUTION: The polyester fiber has 15-38 cN/dtex initial tensile resistance, degree 70% or higher elongation recovery ratio exhibited after 20% elongation, 0.3-1.4% shrink release ratio exhibited after a dry heat treatment at 160°C, 4-11% shrinkage percentage in boiling water, 4-15% dry heat shrinkage percentage at 160°C and 55-80°C temperature at 0.5 cN/dex stress in a shrinkage stress curve.
