PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both light resistance and invisibility of a near-infrared ray-absorbing material. SOLUTION: The near-infrared ray-absorbing material comprises a light-emitting agent and a near-infrared ray-absorbing compound obtained by oxidation of a compound represented by general formula (II) (wherein R<SP>211</SP>, R<SP>212</SP>, R<SP>221</SP>, R<SP>222</SP>, R<SP>231</SP>, R<SP>232</SP>, R<SP>241</SP>and R<SP>242</SP>are each H, an aliphatic group or an aromatic group; R<SP>203</SP>, R<SP>213</SP>, R<SP>223</SP>, R<SP>233</SP>and R<SP>243</SP>are each a substituent group; and n<SB>203</SB>, n<SB>213</SB>, n<SB>223</SB>, n<SB>233</SB>and n<SB>243</SB>are each an integer of 0-4).
