PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shredder which is simple in structure, prevents a person from being injured at a throw-in slit for a material to be cut and at a take-out part for the trash of the cut material, and ensures safety when it is not used. SOLUTION: A shredder 1 cuts a material to be cut, which is fed from a throw-in slit 3 provided in a housing 10 and which is cut with a rotary blade 12, and discharges the cut material into a trash accommodation box 20 provided below the rotary blade. In this case, the housing is provided with; a cover 30 which covers the throw-in slit; a take-out member 21 for taking out the trash accommodation box from the housing; and a locking part 32 which fixes the take-out member which closes the housing together with the cover when the cover closes the throw-in slit.
