The applicator (10) has an optical fiber with a cladding (2) comprising a defined recess with respect to a section of the cladding in a distal end section (13) of the fiber at several longitudinal coordinates. The recess has a vast portion of cladding thickness, and an elastic unit (6) is formed in such a manner that the distal section of the fiber adopts a permitted curved shape. The distal end section comprising a distal end of the applicator is pushed out of a guide catheter. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an applicator for treatment of body tissues.
