The device has a housing (1) with an inlet opening (2) and an outlet opening (3). An active carrier body (4) is provided with two close adjacent layers, where one of the layers is a metal plate (10) and the other layer is a filament structure (11), which is a fabric, a knitted fabric, a fleece or felt. The filament structure is narrower than the metal plate, and is centrally positioned on the metal plate. The filament structure is diagonally oriented to the exhaust gas flow. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an exhaust gas catalyst comprising a spirally wound carrier body (2) a soot particle filter comprising a spirally wound carrier body (3) a method for manufacturing device for cleaning the exhaust gases of internal combustion engine.
