The method involves monitoring moment progress of a drive system and stall-information of a combustion engine during starting process of the vehicle. A starting clutch is plausible with actual transmission condition. Error information is stored in a gear controller, and a vehicle system transmits a message when the starting clutch is not opened during stopping of the vehicle so that a new engine start is not allowed for safety reasons.
