<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practicable method of replacing a damaged outer base. <P>SOLUTION: This method is used for repairing or replacing a mechanically held vane. The method comprises a step of forming an oversized cavity in an outer base, a step of inserting the flared end part of the vane into the oversized cavity, and a step of inserting a wedge mechanically holding the flared end part of the vane into the oversized cavity. The wedge has a first surface with a fixed pitch angle aligned with the cavity of the outer base and a second surface with a variable pitch angle aligned with a dovetail at the end of the vane. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
