PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron-based powder mixture for powder metallurgy with no segregation of components and excellent flowability and compressibility. SOLUTION: While mixing iron-based powder and auxiliary material powder for powder metallurgy in which the surfaces of the grains are coated with an organic binder of 5 to 50 mass%, at least a part of the organic binder is melted or softened, and thereafter, cooling is performed.
