<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fare adjusting method efficient, accurate and excelling in adjustment processing. <P>SOLUTION: This fare adjusting machine optically reads image information recorded on a ticket face, recognizes character information included in the read image information, and transmits the read ticket face image information and recognized character recognition information to a remote adjusting terminal. The remote adjusting terminal receives the ticket face image information and character recognition information transmitted from the fare adjusting machine, displays the received ticket face image information and character recognition information, receives correction input of the displayed character recognition information and determination input of the character recognition information, and transmits the character recognition information determined by the determination input, to the fare adjusting machine.
