PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data management system with high reliability of file management. SOLUTION: The data management system includes: a file system movement directing part for moving a file system from a first volume of a first storage device to a second volume of a second storage device based on a certain rule for moving the file system, the file system conforming to the rule; a file system stored information management part for updating information stored in the file system, as the file system is moved by a file system moving part, and for sending the updated information stored in the file system; and a search information management part for updating search information for searching for files according to a file search request from a client device, based on the information stored in the file system that is sent by the file system stored information management part.
