PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of a compressor, in a hermetic compressor. SOLUTION: An electric element 103 including a stator 107 and a rotor 108 and a compression element 104 driven by the electric element 103 are stored in a sealed container 101. The electric element 103 is a permanent magnet type electric motor enclosing a permanent magnet 113 in a rotor iron core 109. The compression element 104 is provided with a block 115 having a cylinder 117 and a bearing part 116 which form a compression chamber 132 and fixing the stator 107, and a shaft 111 journalled to the bearing part 116 and fixing the rotor 108. A heat insulating body 126 made of low heat conductive material is interposed in at least a part of a heat conductive path between the cylinder 117 and the electric element 103, thereby, heat conduction from the cylinder 117 to the electric element 193 is prevented. The temperature of the electric element 103 is lowered to reduce loss of a winding 111, thereby, the efficiency of the electric element 103 is improved.
