A method of recording data onto an optical disc comprising steps of receiving the data from a source, recording said data in real time onto the optical disc, continuously monitoring an average data transfer rate over a predetermined period of time from the source and reducing the recording speed if the average data transfer rate is below a lower threshold value, the threshold value depending on a desired recording speed. Advantageously the recording speed is increased if the average data transfer rate increased above a second threshold value depending on a desired recording speed, therefore continuously adapting the recording speed to the average data transfer rate. Advantageously, the number of seamless links that need to be performed in a certain period of time is also monitored and the recording speed adapted accordingly. |
