Cohesive non-free flowing sweetener composition for adding sweetness to l iquid foodstuffs, for example, beverages, having a reduced caloric burden as compared to a conventional sucrose cubes of the same dimensions, are provid ed. More particularly, a cohesive non-free flowing sweetener composition con taining a high intensity sweetener and a bulking agent with a negative heat of solution in an amount sufficient to produce a total heat of solution in t he cohesive non-free flowing sweetener composition of from about 5 kilocalor ies to about -20 kilocalories, and a lower caloric burden and an equivalent sweetness compared to that of a conventional sucrose cube of the same dimens ions. Also provided is a sweetener cube comprising a high intensity sweetene r, a bulking agent, and a compound with a positive heat of solution in an am ount sufficient to produce a total heat of solution in the sweetener cube be tween about 5 kilocalories and about -20 kilocalories, wherein the cohesive non-free flowing sweetener composition has a lower caloric burden and an equ ivalent sweetness compared to that of a conventional sucrose cube of the sam e dimensions.
