ELECTROCHEMICAL ELEMENT FOR NOx DECOMPOSITION AND NOx PURIFICATION METHOD USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical element for NOxdecomposition efficiently electrolyzing NOxeven in an oxygen atmosphere with reduced power consumption.

SOLUTION: This electrochemical element 1 for NOxdecomposition has a substrate 11 consisting of a solid electrolyte, and a pair of electrodes formed on both faces of the substrate 11. One electrode 13 of electrodes is a NOxdecomposition electrode 13 provided with a first layer 13a consisting of an electronic conductive substance formed on the substrate 11, and a second layer 13b consisting of zirconia solid solution formed on the first layer 13a. The zirconia solid solution remains in the range of 50-80% of crystal phase ratio of tetragonal to a total amount of tetragonal and monoclinic system (tetragonal/(tetragonal+monoclinic system)).
