PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crime prevention system which considers residents' privacy while inexpensively securing security of a common part by simple operation, in a medium or small-scale apartment house. SOLUTION: The crime prevention system includes: crime preventing cameras 1 which are provided on routes from a common entrance hall 2 of the apartment house to entrance doors of individual apartments 3 and are capable of picking up images of the routes; a video monitor 4 which is provided in the common entrance hall 2 and is capable of displaying images picked up by the crime preventing cameras; an authentication device 5 which is provided in the common entrance hall 2 and is a user authentication information acquisition means; a user/apartment information DB being a preliminarily registered user authentication information storage means; a determination means for determining coincidence between user authentication information acquired by the authentication device 5 and authentication information stored in the user/apartment information DB; and am activation control means for activating the crime preventing cameras 1 and the video monitor 4 in the case of determining the coincidence by the determination means.
