PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device which prevents electrostatic discharge between seal tapes and HDAs and does not damage an HDA element section. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk device has a head disk assembly provided with a metallic base and cover housing a magnetic head structure and the seal tape which is stuck to the outer peripheral surface of the base and the cover, and hermetically seals both the members to each other. The seal tape is formed by laminating, successively from the base and cover side, a lower elastic insulating layer, a metallic layer, an upper elastic insulating layer and a conductive layer.
