PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyether ketone resin which is excellent in heat resistance, can improve the refractive index of a molded article, and has low birefringence and excellent transparency. SOLUTION: This polyether ketone resin has fluorene skeleton-having aromatic ether units (1a). The polyether ketone resin can be obtained by the polycondensation reaction of a ketone compound having a plurality of halogen atoms [for example, an aromatic polyketone compound such as a bis(fluoroarylcarbonyl)arene compound] with a polyol compound corresponding to the units (1a). In the resin, a film having a thickness of 0.1 mm may have a refractive index of≥1.62 at a wavelength of 589 nm. The glass transition temperature Tg of the resin may be≥180°C.
