PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and reagent capable of avoiding the effects of hemoglobin in biological samples and accurately measuring the concentration of materials to be measured in biological samples, and to provide a method and agent for avoiding the effects of hemoglobin. SOLUTION: In the method and reagent for measuring materials to be measured in biological samples, an oxidizing agent and imidazole or its derivative or their salts are made to coexist or contained in a measurement reaction liquid as an agent for avoiding the effects of hemoglobin when materials to be measured in biological samples are measured. In the method for measuring materials to be measured in biological samples, by performing measurement in the coexistence of an oxidizing agent and imidazole or its derivative or their salts, the effects of hemoglobin are avoided. The agent for avoiding the effects of hemoglobin when materials to be measured in biological samples are measured is made of an oxidizing agent and imidazole or its derivative or their salts.
