PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protrusion height measuring method and a measuring device capable of accurately measuring the protrusion height. SOLUTION: A region on the work surface, including protrusions, which is a measuring object, is imaged from the direction of an elevation angle, and the region in an image is divided into a bright region, a dark region and an intermediate region, based on the brightness value in the photographed image. A region constituted of the bright region and the dark region is regarded as a protrusion region corresponding to the protrusion, and a region constituted of the intermediate region is regarded as a work region corresponding to a work, and the protrusion region is extracted from the image. The length of the diameter, corresponding a part that corresponds to the bottom surface diameter part of the extracted protrusion region and the length of a generating line corresponding part, corresponding to a generating line part of the protrusion region are measured. When it is determined that the measured length of the diameter corresponding part is not within a range determined, relative to the stored specification value of the diameter corresponding part, the stored specification value for the diameter corresponding part is decided as a calculated value used for calculating the protrusion height, and the protrusion height is calculated based on the calculated value, the length of the generating line corresponding part, and the elevation angle.
