<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for reducing a potentially harmful high-voltage fault state in an AC machine system. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus 100 includes a motor 110, a rectifier 120 coupled to the motor 110, an output node 1210 coupled to the rectifier 120, and a switch 1220 connected between the rectifier 120 and the output node 1210 and in a normally-on state. The apparatus 100 is mounted on a vehicle provided with an engine for driving the apparatus 100 and a battery 500 connected to the apparatus 100, so that current can be supplied from the apparatus 100 to the battery 500.
