PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an optical recording medium which has no or less defect to the outermost periphery of a recording area, as a defect does not arise or being hardly generated even if a cleaning fluid permeates a protective layer which comprises inorganic materials. SOLUTION: (1) This is a manufacturing method of an optical recording medium using cleaning fluid containing a poor solvent to an organic dye when removing a pigment recording layer, in a manufacturing method of an optical recording medium including; a process to form a pigment recording layer to a periphery edge of a substrate by applying recording layer materials containing an organic dye to a face by a guide groove side of the substrate which has a guide groove on the surface; a process to form a protective layer which comprises an inorganic material on the pigment recording layer; and a process to form an area exposed to the substrate surface by removing a pigment recording layer in an inside neighboring area at a near the periphery edge of the substrate. (2) This is a manufacturing method of an optical recording medium according to (1), in which the cleaning fluid is a compound liquid of 1-methoxy-2-propanol and ethyl cyclohexane.
