PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk array device capable of specifying a place of improper data when mismatching is detected in consistency confirmation even if one disk device out of a plurality of disk devices constituting a RAID-6 is in a failure state. SOLUTION: A sector redundancy area securing section 23 sets the storage capacity per sector of an HDD 3 to be large to capacity for actually storing effective data, to secure a sector redundancy area. An access history recording section 24 records access history information in the sector redundancy area secured by the sector redundancy area securing section 23. A place of improper data specifying section 25 carries out specifying of a place of improper data when mismatching is detected in a reduced state where one HDD is in failure based on the access history information recorded in the sector redundancy area.
