A radio communication device uses a plurality of element antennas to adaptively control directivity of a transmission radio signal according to a reception radio signal received from an opposite radio communication device of a communication destination. The radio communication device includes: a transmission control unit which processes a transmission radio signal according to a first control method for adaptively controlling the directivity; a propagation path state detection unit for detecting a fluctuation state of a propagation path leading to the opposite radio communication device; and a judgment unit for judging whether to modify the directivity according to the fluctuation state of the propagation path. When it is judged to modify the directivity, the transmission control unit modifies the method to a second control method which is different from the first control method and processes the transmission radio signal according to the second control method.
