A method and an apparatus for occupying a trunk in a telephone exchange system are provided to check quality faults of the occupied trunk, inform an administrator of the quality fault, and perform connection with another MSC as avoiding the trunk with bad quality. A method for occupying a trunk comprises the following steps of: occupying the trunk to another MSC(Mobile Switching Center) according to a pre-designated trunk occupation mode(370); checking quality of the occupied trunk by referring to quality information of the occupied trunk(380); connecting a call by occupying the trunk and storing point information of a trunk to be occupied next time if the quality check result is normal(390); and occupying the other trunk in the selected trunk occupation mode if the quality check result is abnormal(330,340,350,360). |
