PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet conveying device capable of preventing paper powder from occurring at the nip part of a pair of conveyor rollers while reducing fluctuation in speed of a sheet to be conveyed in an image reading device. SOLUTION: An image reading device 1 comprises reading units 61, 62 for reading image information on the upper and lower surfaces of a document D1 separated from a document bundle D and a pair of conveyor rollers 5 installed on the upstream side of the reading units 61, 62 and formed in pairs to convey the document D1. The pair of conveyor rollers 5 comprise a drive roller 5a driven by a drive means not shown and a driven roller 5b installed to be opposed to the drive roller 5a. The driven roller 5b has a driven side roller member 65 formed of a material lower in hardness than the drive roller 5a and a lubricating surface 64a formed on a nip part B brought into contact with the document D1 to be conveyed.
