PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an air-conditioning operation which performs the dehumidification and the cooling of a room to be performed by a clothes dryer which loads a refrigerating cycle. SOLUTION: This clothes dryer is equipped with an electric expansion valve 15 which can make a decompression amount variable. A controlling means 33 controls the opening degree of the electric expansion valve 15 in such a manner that the decompression amount in the air-conditioning operation is made larger than the decompression amount in the clothes drying operation. Thus, a refrigerant is turned into a superheated steam at the outlet of a heat sink 16 as an evaporating temperature of the refrigerant which is suitable for the air-conditioning operation, and a liquid compression of a compression means 13 can surely be prevented from occurring.
