Methods and devices for gastrointestinal stimulation are disclosed. In one embodiment, disclosed is an electrical stimulator device (3) that includes a circuit board (4) and a battery (2) contained within a base housing (6); a conduction element (10); and at least one electrode (12). In some embodiments, the stimulator base housing (6) can be directly attached to a wall of a body lumen. In other embodiments, the stimulator base housing (6) can be attached to a cuff (102) or a sleeve device (100). In still other embodiments, one or more elements of the system (92) are free-floating within the GI tract. The devices can be delivered endoscopically, and in some embodiments toposcopically.
