摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an input system capable of executing accurate navigation, as to different types of faces such as a transparent face, a specular face, a smooth face including optical ununiformity, and a smooth face including no irregularity. SOLUTION: The present invention discloses a navigation system and method based on thickness measurement. The navigation system includes a thickness sensor system and a processing system. The thickness sensor system 12 generates a set of respective thickness measured values of an object, in six or more of positions within a surface of the object, during a large number of respective thickness measuring cycles. The processing system 14 generates a measured moving value indicating moving about the object, from one of the set of thickness measured values. The set of respective thickness measured values of the object is generated in six or more of the positions within the surface of the object, during the large number of respective thickness measuring cycles, according to the method of the present invention (step 32).
