PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a communication terminal at a transmission side to control whether to update data stored and managed at a communication terminal at a reception side when data is transmitted and received between the communication terminals and is changed thereafter. SOLUTION: A portable telephone device 1 when receiving by infrared communication (direct communication), data (profile data) before being updated, transmitted from the portable telephone device 1 of the other party and information (decoding key) showing the right and wrong of update of the data, relates the data to the information showing the right and wrong of the update and stores them into in an address book storage part. Afterwards, when receiving update instruction mail transmitted from the portable telephone device 1 of the other party through the Internet 5, the portable telephone device 1 judges the right and wrong of the update of the data based on whether or not the information showing the right and wrong of the update is stored in the address book storage part, and updates the data under such conditions that the update is permitted.
