A device (10) is provided for transferring printed sheet material products (100) including a gripper conveyor (30) having a plurality of grippers (90) for gripping a plurality of printed sheet material products (100), a sheet conveyor (20) for receiving the plurality of products (100) from the plurality of grippers (90) in a lapped stream, and a plurality of fingers (62), each finger assigned to one of the plurality of grippers (90), each finger (62) contacting a first side (102) of one of the plurality of products (100) when a second side of the plurality of products is in contact with the sheet conveyor (20). A method is also provided.
